• Next phase of UJPW activities decided in general meeting
After forming on December 15, and with two events in May and June under the All together banner in support of relief efforts in Noto, the United Japan Pro-Wrestling industry group members met in Tokyo on July 17.
With a view to continuing it’s activities in the development and betterment of professional wrestling in Japan and abroad, the meeting chiefly concerned the steps needed for UJPW to become an incorporated association under Japanese law.
11 promotions across nine companies were represented at the meeting, with NJPW and STARDOM joined by All Japan Pro-Wrestling, Big Japan Pro-Wrestling, DDT Pro-Wrestling, Pro-Wrestling DIANA (in an observing capacity), DRAGONGATE, GANBARE Pro-Wrestling, Kyushu Pro-Wrestling, Pro-Wrestling NOAH and Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling. Representatives from each organization were also joined by lawyers, accountants and specialists engaged in productive and lively discussion. With the goal of better communication with governments and legal bodies as well as to provide effective guidelines and programs for wrestlers, it was determined that the industry group move toward being a general incorporated association.
Once these steps have been completed, Cyberfight Co. Ltd. Vice President Sanshiro Takagi will serve as Spokesman, with Kyushu Pro-Wrestling Chairman Ryota Chikuzen, DRAGONGATE Co. Ltd. board member Ryo Saito, and NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi serving as trustees.
From here, relevant legal steps will be taken for the incorporation of UJPW, and a formal announcement will be made when these steps are complete. United Japan Pro-Wrestling will continue to discuss and act on industry wide issues in the future, and looks forward to continued support.
